We all have this urge to buy new fish .

Introducing new Koi to your pond require's you take some basic precaution's.
When you have selected your prize koi and carefully transported it from your supplier take the time to allow your prize koi to become used to the new water tempature for your pond.

This is done quite easily by floating your fish in it's plastic bag on the pond for an hour to reach the ponds temperature.
When you release the fish it will have a tendency to head straight to the bottom of the pond to seek sanctuary.Don't forget this experience has been some what dramatic for your newcomer and it need's time to adjust.

After 2 or 3 day's the new koi will start to be more in tune with it's new environment and should show sign's of enjoying it's new pond and fellow fish.

Keep an eye on the ammonia in the pond and don't allow it to become to high this can be done by doing a partial water change every 2 or 3 weeks.Be car full not to try and force your new koi to eat by giving to much feed has this will only clog up the filter system.
